To be honest this faction is the easiest faction ive ever played in all total war series, including Rome in Rome 2, there is no way for wessex to be flanked when you only have vassals, some rebels but its quite after you have built a strong economy already, there is absolutely no challenge, its the first faction I tried on hard difficulty and it still feels very easy mode.
You should make wessex having no vassals or having them but to rebel to add more challenge or make mercia being at ear with them
