Description
6 billion casualties within the first day. Yet, some managed to survive.
A passenger, once to be associated with the Foundation, came across a distress signal.

Could this signal dictate the next step to make for a dark salvation, or rather to drag him into the punishing light?

"When Day Breaks" is a short SOMA mod that aims to turn S. D. Locke's Proposal from the SCP Foundation Wiki into a playable story, featuring the key events, and some additional ones, with my own interpretation on the environments.

impossible. the hatch wont open in time at the beginning. highly don't recommend

@saltedcaramel same, but what I would love is a game about the hours leading up to daybreak very story driven only turning survival horror towards the end, I imagine things got pretty weird for the foundation in the hours prior to the event weather anomalies, scps acting irregularly etc etc.

Help! I had no idea how to open the hatch in the computer room even though I went through all the process. The computer said the hatch was open but the light near the hatch were still red(I guess four of them?) And there's no way for me to drag and open the hatch before that monster kills me ;(

The mods starts out at a high note but falls pretty short right at the end.
Has pretty good scares, some subtle some obvious. Especially liked the fake flesh hand that appears behind the desk when you listen to one of the audio logs
The voice acting is well done.
The atmosphere of the outside is great (even if it is only present for only a short part of the game), it doesn't really make you feel safe.
I'm disappointed, however, that 001 was so underutilized. Could at least show more of the outside and how it affected every living being in its light. The danger of the sunlight for the player doesn't appear until the very end of the mod, right before the ending.
The ending is unsatisfying, though not necessarily bad.
Overall it's short but good.

never noticed that theres hands sticking out of the corridor you need to go thru when you reach the EAS room. That and the figure covered in mindcoral running away after you exit the first airlock.
