After the introduction of Rutile Militia as the new standard ship of T.N.N.S.F. fleet, the snub miner Gnome was soon found to be slightly outdated.

A new snub miner was hence designed to takeover the role of Gnome with better safety provided by industrial cockpit.
It also ditches the hybrid thruster layout on Gnome and instead focuses on only one thruster type for intended working environment, providing more lift for more hauling quantity per trip.

The thruster layout also has easy modification taken into consideration, making it simple to change between atmospheric or ionic while retaining the same hull design.

Since it was made to go with Rutile, it was named after a common mineral seen alongside rutile crystal — Quartz

Actually it's been so long I forgot all the detail motivations behind this ship.
Obviously it is truly an updated Gnome to fit Rutile's aesthetic better.
I vaguely remember it was also partly due to the (at that time) new industrial cockpit.
It offers spectacular view to be the best choice for a miner, and looks really nice.

The aim for this ship is still similar to Gnome:
As small/light as possible for it to be a snub and looking as fabulous as possible at the same time.
Just this time it is even more streamlined to fit only one type of thruster at a time.
Since to be honest the additional ion thruster on Gnome really only act as dead weight for atmospheric mining, same for atmospheric thruster when mining on moon.
And unlike many other of my designs trying very hard to hide all the exposed thrusters, the required volume/weight restrictions for designing a miner leave the thrusters exposed, but at the same time easy for modification.
Hence might as well fit only a single type of thruster at a time and let people change manually as they need.

I hope you find this miner suitable for your need, if you don't like/have the required DLC cockpit, feel free to check out Gnome or use vanilla ones instead :)

Thank you!
It really makes me feel happy that you are satisfied with my ships!

I will definitely still play the game, I just need ideas to build new ships, and a lot of thins can get in the way of generating new ideas and preventing me from playing.

Feel free to customize them to fit your style and need!

I am happy to see you still play this game, I love your ships, on my current survival save I have the sky diva as a totem on my earth base, currently building Milessians...I modify little things of your ships but remain main concept and even other ships I give them your color theme.
Quarz I jusr added small reactors (nice touch leaving junctions ready) and couple small solar panels (mod).
Thank you for sharing and look forward to your future builds
