Description

Phoenix Cathedral

I started building this cathedral weeks ago, and just before I release, Notre Dame burns. I’m a huge fan of building styles and the Notre Dame set the standard for French Gothic architecture. It saddened me, to see parts of it burn. I’m not certain if it is poor form to dedicate my new church to Notre Dame or if it would be a mistake not too.

The Phoenix Cathedral was designed as a spawn point for the large multiplayer Guardians of Vanilla servers. Phoenix seemed a fitting name given you respawn there. The first thing you see is a golden and beautiful view. Hidden admin quarters contain a large cargo container, reactor, life support, and gravity (in case your spawn point is in space.

@apoc - why thank you, this comment made my day, truly. I do focus on making pretty things. And this build is among my best. the "pearl" is a great base for living.

This is stunning! Someone on Reddit linked me to your YouTube channel when I was asking about people who focussed on aesthetic building, and honestly I'm blown away by your creations here. Thank you so much for sharing all of these, I'm going to be living inside some of them for a while I think :)

ohhhh, there is no uranium in the reactor so when you spawn it in survival its unpowered. give me 20 minutes to fix it.

When I spawn this in in gravity it has no power and the Phoenix ship part of the ship falls off of the connector :( unless its a space only Church :D Is there a way to spawn it with power so no connector disconnections?

Well we support you, even if CERTAIN GAME DEVELOPMENT STUDIOS NAMED KEEN WHICH WILL NOT BE NAMED don't know what's up.

Keep looking and applying, I have friends who experienced similar long, frustrating searches (in the IT world, which has an unfortunately similar outlook) who did eventually get a foot in the door. Frankly, you have more talent than they did if you promise not to tell them I said that.

Good luck and keep building fun things.

@leo -you have no idea, I already did this with a light saber https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Oyg0zy

@jean -oooo who knows what I would build in real life. I can imagine far stranger and prettier things out side the limits of SE.

@faceless - this is bit sad but I have used design software and made an amazing portfolio and resume. I applied with several game developers I even applied to work with keen. I thought I was golden, I'm a concept artists, a builder, and great at marketing. None of them wanted me.

Also I just read all the text on that poster and laughed my ass off.

Well those challenges suck. I feel like we're all missing out on a radically opalescent version of the space needle or something.

Does the alternate version of you use the welder as a lightsaber?

to be honest if you just get some design software, make some genuinly good work and build a design portfolio, it'd give employers a chance to see your talent. Then again us here in the SE community want all your great work :)
