Flip Gordon burst onto the mainstream pro wrestling scene in 2017 when he made his official debut with Ring of Honor. Gordon dazzled audiences with his high-flying offense and while he was still relatively new to the business—debuting just a few years prior—all of the ingredients were there for a future star. Gordon first made the NJPW audience aware of his presence on January’s ROH/NJPW co-promoted Honor Rising shows and was an instant hit. Gordon was invited back to participate in NJPW’s annual Best of the Super Juniors tournament going 3-4 with wins over Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Taiji Ishimori and perhaps most importantly veteran junior Tiger Mask. Gordon gained additional publicity by taking part in the Young Bucks & Kenny Omega’s YouTube Series Being the Elite with a storyline of Flip trying to get booked for The Elite’s produce show ALL IN. #BookFlip became a rallying cry and Gordon eventually did make it onto the show by winning a battle royal and receiving one of the largest crowd reactions of the night.
