Для того, кто придумал сделать дозаправку в воздухе обязательной частью 2 миссии приготовлен отдельный котел в аду. Даже если дозаправка осуществлена в полном объеме, она не засчитывается, я уже 5 раз пробовал пройти эту миссию.

Is this designed to be tackled with the modern/futuristic equipment in the game, or am I supposed to limit myself to the technology that was present in the real conflict?

For those having difficulties with Second mission:
SEAD the DS marks
If you’re quick to take out the SAMs, you won’t have to refuel.
Take out as many SAMs as possible so the bombers won’t get shot down

second mission bugged. If all wing men get show down (sorry iceman), while I'm trying to mid-air refuel (for an hour), I cannot complete mission (after i eventually refuel).

Was a bit shocked to find out this is only three missions, wonder if there'll ever be more at some point. It was a bit tough but once I got more confidence with dodging radar SAMs this became kinda fun and intense. Just gotta get over the fear of being locked up in the air and instead show that missile who's boss and return to sender with a GBU or maverick. Pretty fun. Hoping for more.
