I've visited this chamber several times with no success... then today, I suddenly saw quite clearly what I needed to do. Surprisingly simple once you know how!

You can basically bypass the whole test chamber by getting the cube to the grid floor then going back to the exit platform and firing a portal through the glass by aiming at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical glass walls

Other than that the intended solution is pretty interesting and fun to execute, even though I tried some ninja moves before figuring out the actual solution :)
