Honma returned from his broken neck, but it was obvious he wasn't the same wrestler. They didn’t trust his body enough to allow him to work even one singles match, and for that matter, he was barely booked for 2v2 tags. Makabe teaming with Henare at World Tag League was a bad sign for the future of GBH, and the late-year tease of Makabe & Yano reforming Most Violent Players may have been the official death knell.

2018 was a transition year for the New Japan tag team scene, with several long-time teams either calling it quits or winding it down. GBH & TenKoji were both destroyed by injury, and it appears 2017 will prove to be the last semblance of a real push for both pairs. Gedo & Jado failed to team together for the first time in a quarter century. Okada & Gedo are dead. Okada also largely stopped teaming with YOSHI-HASHI. TAKA & Taichi are barely hanging on after Taichi’s move to heavyweight. The LIJ junior team shifted members as Hiromu was replaced by Shingo. If MVP does reform, that would not only kill off GBH, but also spell the end for Toru Yano & Tomohiro Ishii.
