Description
This port of Rydygier's Hetman War Stories has been updated to version 1.10

Changes:

new init settings:
- "Armour Density" setting: NONE. If chosen, statistically both forces should be composed of around 80% infantry and 20% motorized (+supports). No mechanized/tanks;
- "Faction" setting: MULTI. If chosen, additional side list should show up with all factions of selected side. It allows to choose multiple factions per side (forces should be randomly picked from the pool of groups from all selected factions);
- customized separation between forces of each faction;
- new game mode: WHOLE MAP. It utilizes part of Hetman code called Big Boss to produce a battle over large areas and multiple strategic points to take. Both armies divided into two separately commanded divisions.

- new camera handling code for spectator mode - looking less artifical, and more like the camera operator was a human being (camera stabilized, but controlled "by hand", may work less fluid with foot infantry units). Press SPACE to enforce scene switch, anything else - to exit;

new Advanced Setup variables to customize victory conditions in WHOLE MAP mode

Weferlingen is the terrain included in the Global Mobilisation DLC which is required for this port. Infantry may struggle to cross the Iron Curtain which divides the map. Vehicles can make their own openings.

Presently the Global Mobilisation factions combine both winter and summer camo in the one faction. As a result, winter camo is present in this mission. The only option is to use factions from a mod such as the Community Factions Project, although they are likely to be more modern.

HWS is a very easy to use generator of dynamic, interesting battles conducted by HETMAN commanding AI. Each unique battle experience is powered by very complex scripting and is created with a few mouse clicks.

Optionally the player may customize the gameplay by choosing the fighting factions, scale of the battle, daytime, weather, forces ratio, persistency of the result (campaign mode, where results of past battles slightly affect every next battle) etc. Additional text field allows advanced users and Hetman veterans to apply also more complex setup code or even regular script, that will be executed at init.

The resulting battle may vary greatly each time, nothing is guaranteed. You're only a cog in the war machine controlled by HETMAN, so do not expect any special treatment. The battle does not revolve around the player in any way. You may find yourself in the middle of fierce firefight or you may be kept as reserve and have to wait a long time before you see any action. You may die in the first few minutes or survive to the end without firing a single shot. Just do your part or act on your own. Whatever you do, try to keep your leader happy.

HWS will also utilize units from custom addons when mods are loaded, if the addons have properly configured groups.

Great port, makes lot of fun. But the winter camo sucks :-(

I don't think they all are yet. Signs of things to come.

No, I just didn't know those sub-factions were included.

Germany in 1983 was a NATO operation with various countries having standing armies based there, such as the British Army on the Rhine (BAOR)

I wanted the summer map because I sometimes use other faction mods on it. Yeah, I also hope that GM will divide the winter & summer camo units into seperate factions.

true, i hope the GM dev seperates the winter and summer units so we can be more immersed

Unfortunately the winter camo and summer camo are together in the same faction so the mission randomly selects the units from that faction. It spoils the immersion for me, but others wanted a summer port so they could use RHS as an alternative.

I have used the GM faction units with the mixed camo and it can still be fun. At least the GM tanks have the ability to repair their tanks and rejoin the fight.

would it be able to restrict winter camo to the winter version or is that beyond your control?

If a 'faction' doesn't have groups designated in the Eden Editor & Zeus under the 'Groups'/ Compositions tab, don't even bother trying to use it as a main faction for play in HWS. At most, you can use Zeus to deploy individual units from groupless 'factions'. Also, there are sometimes 'ghost' factions that will show in the dropdown faction selection menu of HWS but the mod they originate from hasn't fleshed them out and made them editor-placeable yet...they're just empty placeholders that may be released later (ie, GlobMob seems to be giving us the USSR and Warsaw Pact nations in a future release, but you can't use those now in HWS or anything else).
