Proper Beavers FOREVER

Description
Rectifies a troubling lack of actual pet beavers in this game.

Do you absolutely love beavers? Do you fondly remember having a smashing time with them playing Donkey Kong Country? Are you tired of gnawty Alphabeavers being useful for nothing more than munching on your dendrous (wooden) face?
Lament no more! Now you can have a whole bunch of cute, friendly beavers that are actually helpful!

Please note that this mod does not modify Alphabeavers, but rather adds two new separate animals. If you want Alphabeavers modified instead, see the Satisfied Beavers mod by Thom Blair III instead. Please note also that at the time of this mod's creation, Vanilla Animals Expanded — Temperate Forest did not exist, so if you wish ordinary Terran beavers that behave like unremarkable and undomesticated animals added to your game instead, see to that. Because both of these alternatives exist, I decided in this 1.3 update to go all in and make these beavers fully unique and remarkably intelligent, almost like they were ported right from Donkey Kong.

This mod adds Beavers and Ultrabeavers.
Both:
  • Have advanced trainability, which means they can be trained as haulers and combat animals.
  • Are classified as herbivores and dendrovores, which means they eat all manner of plants, including living trees —but not the pretentious magic trees introduced by Royalty and Ideology.
  • Are likeliest to spawn in Temperate Swamp, followed by Temperate Forest. They do not spawn in ice or deserts.
  • Are herd animals, which means they tend to move and fight as a group —including against you. Speaking of...
  • Have a low chance to go manhunter on a failed taming attempt, but unusually high chances to retaliate against attack.
  • Are fully domesticated, meaning that their wildness is 0% and their petness is 100%! They also have an ordinary filth rate and a nuzzle interval of 24 hours.
  • Are pack animals, which means they can help haul even on the road.
Beavers:
  • Are more common than Ultrabeavers.
  • Breed more quickly than Ultrabeavers.
  • Are fragile in combat, but are quite fast and are more dexterous in combat than Alphabeavers.
  • Are too small to rescue people.
Ultrabeavers:
  • Breed slower than a Thrumbo, but are considerably more common.
  • Are tougher in combat than Beavers, and have a mean bite —meaner than Castoroides.
  • Can rescue people and have a respectable hauling capacity.
  • Are more aggressive than Beavers.

Top hats not included. Sorry. Rimworld has top hats now, who'd have thunk? But they require the Royalty DLC. 🤷‍♂️ Can't win 'em all, I guess.
Preview art derived from GBC Donkey Kong Country.
Castoroides art assets borrowed from the excellent Megafauna mod by Spino. If you also have Megafauna, take care when you see a giant beaver and make certain of its identity. Castoroides and Ultrabeavers are quite different in both biology and behaviour.
Special shout-out to Thom Blair III. While I made this all myself, looking at the file-structure of his mod helped me learn enough about Rimworld modding to get started.

They should work forever, and I no longer play Rimworld, so never? Someone else feel free to pick up the mantle

Fixed lifecycle miscalculation and added a rule to prevent them from eating your super speshul trees if you have DLC.

Oh yes, and - they still appear in all biomes except deserts, but they were made slightly less rare. All in all, this makes Beavers distinct from Terran beavers and Alphabeavers, and Ultrabeavers distinct from Castoroides.

Seeing how beavers were actually added in another mod, I tweaked these beavers and ultrabeavers to be more unique. They are now fully domestic, are more dangerous in combat (though beavers are just as fragile), and they are slightly more valuable. Most importantly, they now additionally serve as pack animals (for caravans).

Looks like you got your wish for this at least. I see no reason why this should be broken, but I added some tags in the XML to placate the Rimworld console

Don't need to ask me for permission, the sprites of the Beavers here are just rehashes of the Alphabeavers already in the game. The Ultrabeavers are rehashes of Castoroides from Megafauna. I say do what you like :newsword:

@Bob Quack the Science Hack I'm making an otter race mod and I was wondering if I could use the beaver from this mod to make a beaver race?
