I haven't been playing Rimworld lately, but you can open the about.xml file with notepad or similar and under supported versions change 1.0 to 1.1, save it and see if that works. I haven't kept up with the updates to horses or CE to know if they would require any additional changes.

This uses patching, so there shouldn't be.
