MEC VT-6 Hex Prism Laser (Size 4)

This state-of-the-art weapon emplacement came about from further refinement of the 'Nocturna' patrol frigate's signature VCX-3 laser. The VT-6 uses many of the same components as the original, but incorporates a new focusing prism. Slight rotation of this prism combined with a strong magnetic field slightly deforms the crystal lattice structure. This effect can be leveraged to refract the incoming laser beam at an arbitrary angle, allowing tracking and no longer requiring the frigate to turn to face its target.

This technology is promising, but unfortunately, not yet perfected to the point of matching the coaxial VCX-3's maximum output. For now, it serves as a situational replacement weapon for the 'Nocturna,' trading power for coverage.

This is a turret designed to look like a coaxial weapon. It has no visible 'barrel' component, but uses the 'body' component to make parts of it rotate when tracking targets. You can mount it as you would a standard turret and it'll work fine, or you can mount it at a 90 degree angle like you would with most coaxial weapons.
