Description
This mod slightly corrects oversights left in the general skill tree updated mod.

The mod makes the combat chain worthwhile which is tremendously underpowered in vanilla Shogun 2.

However, there were other tweaks in place that don't fit the established design for skill point updates: skills with up to three points offer an increased buff in the third skillpoint in order to offset the increased opportunity cost that comes with specialization and ignoring other skills.

This is why, for example, agent skills give +1, +2 and finally +4 with, sometimes, some extra bonus thrown in (for instance +line of sight for spies). Another good example is the "infantry leader" skill, which gives 'Stand and Fight' with the first skillpoint, then +1 attack for infantry and finally +2 on top of that.

Full changes are as follows: (remember, these are NOT commulative)

Cavalry Commander 2: +2 cavalry charge
Cavalry Commander 3: +5 cavalry charge (so, +3 from the previous level)

Diehard Fighter 1: +5 morale to general's bodyguard
Diehard Fighter 2: +10 morale to general's bodyguard
Diehard Fighter 3: +15 morale to general's bodyguard

Legendary Warrior 1: +3 armor, + 25% size
Legendary Warrior 2: +6 armor, + 50% size

Master Horseman 1: +5 charge to general's bodyguard
Master Horseman 2: +11 charge to general's bodyguard (so, +6 from the previous level)
Master Horseman 3: +18 charge to general's bodyguard (so, +7 from the previous level)

Master Swordsman 1: +4 attack to general's bodyguard
Master Swordsman 2: +9 attack to general's bodyguard (so, +5 from the previous level)
Master Swordsman 3: +15 attack to general's bodyguard (so, +6 from the previous level)

Poet 1: +4% military research bonus
Poet 2: +9% military research bonus (so, +5 from the previous level)
Poet 3: +15% military research bonus (so, +6 from the previous level)

Warrior 1: +3 defence for general's bodyguard
Warrior 2: +7 defence for general's bodyguard (so, +4 from the previous level)
Warrior 3: +12 defence for general's bodyguard (so, +5 from the previous level)

However, it's an easy fix.

You just need to open Blue's mod file named "Bleu_GeneralTreeBuff.pack" in the RPFM, and add these three lines into it:

general_poet research_points_bonus_military 1 4
general_poet research_points_bonus_military 2 9
general_poet research_points_bonus_military 3 15

@Auzziejoe

I've checked the mod's tables through RPFM and can't see the Poet portion at all, so I don't think it's just a text issue and Poet is simply not modified.

Thanks for this, I liked the original mod but didn't use it due to a combination of oversights, and it breaking the Otomo clan description. As Joe said below, Poet only shows 12% on the 3rd level, can you confirm if that's visual or actual please?
Auzziejoe 12 Feb, 2024 @ 11:29am
Hi Bleu, for me the Poet is not updated, and still shows the vanilla +3%, +9%, +12% values? The rest of them are changed though. Can you confirm the change is in place?

It is definitely possible.
The retainer bonuses are handled in other tables and in the spirit of keeping good mod modularity Id look for another mod that does it. Theres probably one out there.

Regardless, good call. Some retainer bonuses are negligible while others like +1 honor are superb.

Thanx, makes generals MUCH better. Blessed art thou. Is it possible to make retainers better?(Or is there already a mod that does that I'm unaware of?)

Thanks Walter, I completely missed it. I'll correct it now :)
