Description
This mod alters matchlock range From 100 to 125 (and 125 to 150 for heroes).

There are other matchlock mods available but most of them equalize matchlock vs bow range or even make matchlocks outrange bow units outright. This is wrong since it destroys the ranged balance of the game.

This implementation allows bow units to screen matchlock units while staying out of their range. Dunderbuss cavalry is unaffected.

Also, this means that matchlock units will be able to get their three meagre volleys on charging INFANTRY by using fire by rank. On vanilla S2 their pathetic range of 100 means that it will take them 5 seconds to even begin firing, and will be reached by infantry even before each soldier gets ONE shot.

Sadly, I havent been able to modify 'fire by rank' so that more than three lines fire, nor have I been able to tweak their start up time. If anyone knows how to mod this I will greatly appreciate it.

PS. Please feel free to provide feedback. I am not against tweaking these values further (perhaps a different base matchlock range? Perhaps coupled with 155-160 bow range with the corresponding adjustment to hero and monk units?)

I don’t think I’m changing the mod at this point, sorry. Besides a mounted gunner buff would make it unbelievably powerful especially dunderbuss cavalry, it would be insane.

Please change tokugawa mounted gunners 100 to 125 and donderbuss cavalry 50 to 75.

Hey, forgot to post that here, but I am happy to report that I have been playing with this mod + unofficial patch for over a year now and there's been zero issues.

Historically matchlocks had an effective range of 200 meters while bows had a range of 70 to 150 meters.
How about a version with 175 to 200 range but make matchlock units smaller and way more expensive?
Since getting your hands on the weapons + the training and maintenance was the biggest issue.
( I believe the going rate for the tech was one smith's daughter.) If you know you know ;)

@FlyingScoots Ah, yes I'm aware of it. I use a separate mod for matchlock sound fix, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for bringing it into my attention!
And I hope you like my mod(s) :). Trust me, it will also make you respect enemy matchlocks much more!

From what I understand it shouldn't be modifying ranges for weapons, cause it's trying to be a patch fixing issues and oversights with a vanilla game... Welp, might try it and see what happens.

@FlyingScoots I don't know what that is. This mod just modifies a single table in the game regarding weapon ranges. You can check it out using the pack file manager.

If that unofficial shogun 2 patch (do you have a link? I'm curious now!) modifies that very same table, then, no. If it doesn't, then yes.
