Wolf O'Donnell

Description

This gray wolf replaces the gray survivor (Bill).

Well here we are! My first mod for L4D2. This has been one hell of a roller coaster ride. From the fun world of making VGUI to the living nightmare that is rigging, I've learned a lot. I look forward to continuing, but we'll see how far I go.

****UPDATE**** I am very happy to say I have solved the arm-stretch issue! Now the model totally uses its original proportions (although I did scale him up a bit because he really was comedically small). ALSO, I've fixed the way he holds melee weapons, his fingers are no longer crooked, and I've adjusted his attachments a bit so that they fit happily on his body. His body is also now properly aligned and now shoots straight and holds guns properly.

***Woah! I didn't realize this didn't work online! Well it should now.

****ANOTHER UPDATE! I've completely remade the HUD icon to give it that Jupiter style. A preview can be found in the last screenshot.

***FEATURES***
- The SSBU model with a slightly modified version of the original rig*
- Proportions accurate to the game (Yes, he's that small...Okay fine I made him a little bigger)
- RNG: His clothes change with every map!
- FUGLY viewmodel hands (You get used to them)
- Jiggleboned ears and tail (trust me, they're there)
- Lobby icon
- HUD icon
- Incap icon

KNOWN ISSUES

His incap animation consists of him partially being dug into the ground. I'm guessing it's because of his size.

His textures are UGLY. But that's how Nintendo made 'em.

Depending on the mods you use, the upper part of his left arm may be stretched out. The result of this is a bit of the geometry flashes on the screen (NOTE this issue does not exist with stock weapons). Still don't know how to fix this.

CREDITS

Literally 80% of this is because of users Sneakyerz and ?4th Chaos Emerald? for such a fantastic port of this model (please let me know if you have an issue with this being up!)

User MrFunreal for his spectacular UI prefabs

B L A Z E for making the best tutorial video ever and helping me finally understand rigging and the proportion trick

Ellie for an incredible tutorial that made understanding RNG a snap

Nintendo for making this model and character exist in the first place

And me for rigging, UI, RNG, texture fixing, screaming, crying etc.

~Stay tuned for Fox and Falco!

Textures are pure black now. Can we take this to DMs then post the final solution here for others to see?

Oh crap I know why. All of the custom textures are baked into the clothes.vtf file. SO, what you'll want to do is make a texture like this, but with your desired textures. You can do this by exporting them to PNG, opening VTFEditor, clicking import, have them BOTH selected, then click import. Now if you click the arrows under "Frame" in the top right panel, it should have 2 frames. Save this to replace the clothes.vtf in the file and use it with the modified code in the VMT file. It should work now. Sorry for the late response; I'm "retired" for a reason :P

Well, mate?

Not working. It's loading the deleted textures somehow, too. Yes, I am loading the edited version.

Ah, the Wolfen files must be something I forgot to delete when I was preparing the final folders. OH well, it isn't really hurting or helping anything.

Okay so it sounds like you want the RNG to swap between two skins. For your specific question, you'll want to browse the materials files until you find the clothes.vmt. Then, there should be a line that says

scale "8"

This means it will alternate among 8 different skins. To get what you want, delete the skins you don't want until you're left only with the two you want. Then, change that scale value to "2."

How do I make it so it only RNGs between certain outfits? Specifically the purple and black ones. I hate all the rest

Great mod, is there any way you can get Wolf to replace Bill in The passing?
