Trained by kayfabe “sister-in-law” Madison Eagles and “brother” Ryan Eagles, Australian star Robbie Eagles had a breakthrough year in 2018. A fantastic two-match series against Will Ospreay for the PWA promotion in Australia caught the attention of hardcores, and prompted Ospreay to lobby him into New Japan. Bad Luck Fale recruited him to Bullet Club, debuting with the group on the Power Struggle tour as Taiji Ishimori’s Super Junior Tag League partner. He tapped out Jushin Thunder Liger in his Korakuen Hall debut, and earned a singles win over Yota Tsuji on the final night of the tour.

Super Junior Tag League wasn’t his official New Japan debut. He made a three-match cameo on the Fallout Down Under tour in February, highlighted by a three-way match in Perth against Cody & Will Ospreay that is probably the best New Japan match this year that you haven’t seen.

There’s no official word if Eagles will be back, and he isn’t listed as part of the roster in the Wrestle Kingdom program. He was treated well in the booking on the Super Junior Tag League tour, scoring a tap out on Liger and winning all four of his non-tournament matches (including a singles). That tells me they like him, and he’s got a couple of allies in Ospreay and Fale. My gut tells me he’ll be back.
