Milano (Milan)

City-State Trait: Your Trading Post in foreign cities provide +1 Culture to your Trade Routes passing through or going to the city.

City-State Type: Industrial

History:
Milan is created by Celts, the Insubres, a probably indigenous tribe that was part of the prehistoric era of Golasecca culture. According to Livy, the city was founded by Gauls, Bituriges, led by Bellovesos, nephew of the mythical king Ambigatos. After having been the most important city of the Insubrian Gauls, Milan was conquered in -222 by the Romans, following a harsh siege of the Roman consuls Gnæus Cornelius Scipio Calvus and Marcus Claudius Marcellus. The conquest is thwarted by the arrival of Hannibal to which the local population must ally. It is only in the first years of the second century BC. AD the Insubrians are subject to Roman rule. After the final conquest, the Romanization of the Insubrious proved to be profound and relatively fast, in -89 the inhabitants of the region obtain the Latin citizenship (Lex Pompeia) and finally in -49 the full Roman citizenship (Lex Roscia). The military, political and economic importance allows the city of Milan to receive the title of municipality then of Roman colony. Emperor Constantine I promulgated the edict of Milan (313), which legalized Christian worship. With St. Ambrose, Milan becomes one of the most important centers of Christianity. The Emperor Theodosius I is obliged to penance, his head covered with ashes, outside the church. After this humiliation, Theodosius will take action against the pagans. In the Middle Ages, Milan was led by Counts (840-979) Counts-Archbishops (979-1101) and then Imperial Consuls or Podestats. In modern times, Milan is the capital of a duchy held first by the Visconti family, whose name appears on the walls of the Castle of Sforza. Its dynasty held the city from 1263 until 1447, then it gave way to the Sforza family after the brief interlude of popular government of the Ambrosian Republic (1447-1450). The kings of France (Valois-Orleans) claiming dynastic rights over the Duchy of Milan participate in the wars of Italy during the Renaissance. In 1535, with the death of Francis II Sforza, last Duke of Milan, the city passes to the hands of the Spaniards of Charles V, then is conquered by the Austrians in 1713 before being part of the Cisalpine Republic under Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1859, Victor Emmanuel II, King of Sardinia, who later became King of Italy, seized the Milanese.

Compatible with Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm.

Yep no worries. I will offer this feedback for whenever Civ7 comes around and you mod more. In your pictures and/or names of your individual CS mods, I would put the Type, as well. Took me awhile to find 3 of each type (that I liked) to add to a mod list for my games. (Because there were A LOT of Trade ones, and I like have even amounts from the CS lottery pick when starting a game, and I wouldn't want WAY more of one type.) Just food for thought, (as they say.)

Have not tried this in game, but you written description tells us it is a "Cultural CS", but all your pictures show it as "Industrial CS"? Which is it, did it change with an update once upon a time?

Ah yes, the infamous Gnæus Cornelius Scipio Calvus.
