Designed to bridge the gap between the newly commissioned Airman and the Commodore, the Ensign comes in as a dedicated gas harvester. While capable of mining ores at a decent rate, this is only to assist in the manufacturing of vectronium.

This ship is intended just to get you gas, but I think it's a little underrated. Compared to the Airman, having ACTRs in it is a really big deal. ACTRs are the next step in automation in ISR. Unfortunately, it doesn't have assemblers or 3D printers, so it is limited. Eventually you will want to move on to a bigger ship that can do it all.
