Duck Bay Redo

Description
Duck Bay Redo

This was an old map I always liked, but as my map skills grew, this map was no longer acceptable to me. So It has been overhauled.

New Highway System 4/4
Rail Road Overhaul 4/4
Expanded Coastal Shipping Lanes 4/4
Air Travel Connections 4/4
Rivers are designed for power generation, not shipping
Complete Landscape And River Redesign

Took me weeks to hand paint this map, I think it was worth it.

With map making, there is so much to learn and think about as you make it. I never had any luck overwriting already published maps. Screws everything up lol

Btw, I still love the map. It's very creative. I like the water filled "volcano" a lot. It's also interesting, without being a huge pain to build in.

My comments are just a "the devil is in the details" kind of thing :)

@Kal

Oh, I meant you could just go in with and quick paint in some deposits in places. If you don't want to do anymore, I understand that, but it wouldn't take much time.

My other suggestion (if you decide to make another map) is to be using "Move It!", parrallel roads, and Road Anarchy. You can use those tools and still have a "no mods required" map. They all make roads easier to place, and look better.

The roads are playable, but they're not great. The barely above-ground bridges to the side of the starting area are pretty wonky. I fixed them with the upgrade tool and move-it, in my game.

Thanks, I'll keep those points in mind if I decide to make another map.

Cool. I like how you can see the duck, but it also blends in and looks natural enough to not be distracting.

I feel like a smattering of ore and oil (small deposits) would make this feel a little bit more flexible or natural. Seems like most maps are like that, and if you play by unlocking tiles, it makes the decision making a little more interesting (do you want to go for a rich deposit, or this other tile that you want for other reasons, but has a weak deposit?) Without those weak deposits, you can't even do small industries elsewhere.

Nice job.
