Mike Griffin started refereeing professionally in 1997 and has been the third man in the ring for many recent high profile bouts including fighters such as Arturo Gatti, Naoya Inoue, Sergey Kovalev, Deontay Wilder, Wladimir Klitschko, Miguel Cotto, Bernard Hopkins, Keith Thurman and others.

Born in Montreal into a rough family, Griffin has been known for his quality timing and judgement, a factor that played into his seventh round stoppage call in the Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Anthony Joshua bout.
