Typhoon-class Cruiser [No Mods]

In 1 collection by Prometheus1998_
Automated Fleet
4 items
Description
Heavily inspired by the concept of the Drone Empire from Space Engineers: Colony Wars, and Papple's ship designs in particular.

The Typhoon-class Cruiser is designed to serve as the flagship of an automated fleet, or carry out long-term missions far from its base of operations. Built entirely from heavy armor, its hull can withstand blows that would shatter the smaller Tornado or Monsoon, and its armament is significantly expanded.

The Typhoon-class Cruiser has the following features:

* 8 jump drives
* 24 missile turrets
* 14 gatling turrets, 12 on the exterior for general area defense and 2 inside for protection from boarders
* 12 forward-firing rocket launchers
* 120 decoy blocks, in 8 separate arms
* Hydrogen primary thrusters
* Ion secondary thrusters
* Space inside the hull for additional modification

As always, the forward rocket launchers were inactive and all ships were unmanned during the entirety of testing. Despite that, however, it is abundantly clear that the Typhoon-class is by far the most powerful vessel of all its kin. Papple's Star Hopper, the ship that served as the most direct inspiration for the Typhoon, shattered in the face of a barrage from this vessel. Onyx Dawn's Asteria, a larger, more heavily armored and armed, vessel, was able to best the Typhoon, though it too sustained heavy damage and was almost destroyed.

Nostrian99's BS-2 Visundur was destroyed without even carving out the bow of the Typhoon, and the SS-18 Thorn Heavy Destroyer fared a bit better. Any vessel with a block count under 10,000 beware; the Typhoon is a force to be reckoned with.
