History (In-Universe)

Galactic Empire did recognise the need in better starfighter than famous TIE Fighter. And in fact, they did so even before their devastating loss at Battle of Yavin. New starfighter was developed by Sienar Fleet Systems and was issued to the elite Imperial Storm Commandos unit. This new starfighter was especially designed to encounter Rebel T-65 X-Wings. TIE Hunter was equipped with shields, hyperdrive, new weapons and compared to the standart TIE Fighter had it's speed and maneuverability increased.

Despite beeing a decent starfighter overall, TIE/HU was never mass produced. Fortunately, now KDY offers you an exact replica of the Galactic Civil War Era elite fighter.

I have a Nintendo Gamecube emulator on
my computer. I've played Star Wars Rogue
Squadron 2 and have both flown these and
fought against them. These things are DEADLY.
I'd have to say that they are about 64 times more
dangerous than a regular Tie Fighter. And they're
REALLY fast, too.....my God......almost impossible
to shoot these crazy things unless you have good
reflexes or something. Crap like THIS is why when
I play those games I always use the "infinite lives"
password. Most players won't be able to survive
with just three lives; these games can be difficult
as far as combat goes.

@sauron2012 yeah, even the most brute force needs a good commander to be properly used.
