2.6.1 Star Patterns Event Fix

Description
v2.6 has fixed the errors with the Star Patterns event chain that caused it to fail to find a valid target 99% of the time. This mod is no longer a bugfix mod.

However, the fix that was implemented still only looks at the primary stars of systems and thus will never find empty stars to add the energy to outside of modded content. It also prioritizes removing research deposits in favor of replacing them with energy deposits. Additionally, the vanilla code still prefers to avoid targeting stars that are owned by anyone, including the player.

This mod's version of the event tries to target stars that don't have deposits first, then stars that already have an energy deposit that would find themselves with more energy after the event chain, and only then looks to replace research deposits. My code is also happy to target a star in the player's territory but still avoids stars belonging to other nations.

If you like those conditions better, you're welcome to stay subscribed to this mod! On the other hand if all you cared about was that the project failed to spawn in earlier versions, the vanilla 2.6 experience will serve you just fine.

The old v2.5.1 and earlier description. A backup of that version of the mod is included if you wish to use it.
-------------------
As of the 2.3.2 beta the Irregular Energy Emissions / Star Patterns / Pulsating Stars / Star Crazy event chain (distar.1070) has been changed in such a way that the special project will almost certainly fail to find a valid target. As far as I can tell the new target conditions are supposed to target the stars in binary/trinary systems that don't have any deposits so the positive outcome of this event chain can give them some. Unfortunately the conditions used in the 2.3.2 beta only look at the primary stars of a system, and all randomly generated systems are guaranteed to have deposits on their primary star, so the search for a valid target will fail.

As the seeming spirit of this change was to target binary/trinary systems, I've made this mod so that it can actually target those systems. Additionally, I've changed the conditions so that it can target systems you own, but not owned by other civilizations (unmodded, it must be an unowned system). If the search fails to find a nearby star with no deposits, it will go to a star that does have an *energy* deposit as a backup so you can still reap the good outcome's higher energy deposit reward (no overriding research deposits).

Once this bug gets fixed I might keep this mod around for the expanded conditions. Until then, let me know if you have any problems.

I've got a few other bugfix mods, go check them out, and maybe give them a Rate Up so that other people can find them too.

We're now at 2.7 something, is an update needed?

No update necessary for the v2.6.3 beta. I'll revisit when we get the official v2.6.3 patch.

I've just got a couple more mods to update, I'll be getting to this one soon. Right after I go break quarantine. 😬

The patch notes say that this issue has been fixed, but I haven't had time to confirm yet.

* Fixed the "Sensor Malfunction" event to properly replace the resource of the star.
* Fixed potential error with the Star Patterns event.
* Pulsating Star Research Project can no longer spawn on black holes.

It's unlikely there'd be any ill-effect from having the mod installed until I have time to check the new code. I'll try to check later today.
