Description
E-5 Experimental Lander

Please note: as the name implies this lander is fully functional yet experimental in design.

Clang has been reduced to the point where it should not impede the normal function of the craft at the hands of an operator with a shred of common sense- Please refer to the flight manual below.
The inertia tensor on the rotors attached directly to the hull munt not be enabled under any circumstances, unless you want to rip the lander apart into tiny pieces.
All this just makes it fun to fly imo ;)

The E-5 Lander was inspired by the Bell Aerosystems Lunar Landing Research Vehicle, with 4 landing struts to act as buffers on landing. It has an oxygen tank, H2/02 generator and hydrogen tank with enough fuel to make a controlled decent. It is able to fly in all environments.

FLIGHT MANUAL - READ THIS BEFORE FLYING
Due to some subtle glitches with the rotor suspension, the craft has a tendency to roll, and drift downwards at approximately 1.38m/s at .9g . The rolling has been nullified with a gyroscope on override, and the drift is more than manageable (it is a lander after all). Because of the override, another gyroscope is used for rotating the craft. The strength needs to be adjusted for the local gravity. I recommend 45% in 0.25g, and 70% for 1g. This can be adjusted with 6 and 7. The 4 landing gear arms act as impact dampers on touchdown. For planets with a gravity of .6 and below, the gear is best used unlocked. When locked (by pressing 8) the damping effect is hardened, but may lead to the lander bouncing off the surface. The maximum safe impact speed for the lander with locked suspension is ~35m/s

It's cute.
I like simple designs like yours.

Thanks guys ;)

Thats pretty cool

@alpha it should be possible to write a spring script for pistons as well. Not sure how proficient you are at coding. FYI ignore the haters I make proof of concept blueprints and scripts all the time. It's easy to build a brick with thrusters or even something pretty but not utilitarian it's very hard to engineer something truly original,

I went to this page and found these items. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/SupremeComrade/myworkshopfiles/

I dont see how android can sit and tell alpha-5 that his posting is not practical etc when it looks like android has posted several items that are not only impractical but redundant with minor changes.

Could someone just put ☭Android☭ out of his misery, it's dreadful to read jalous haters talking nonsense.

Some people cannot let others have fun it seems. Who knew that people can build things they want to build even if it isn't the most practical design in a sandbox game lol
Guinevere 26 Jun, 2019 @ 12:39am
Gotta love people telling other people what they can and can't do/build in a creative sandbox game :steamfacepalm:

Well, in that case, our points of view similar. But,despite the fact that you do not consider it an alternative, this is it,as it performs almost the same functions.
