Description
Looking for some South American nations that aren’t just your normal Spanish-speaking affair? Look no further! Introducing the Guianas Civ Pack, featuring three civs from everyone’s favorite ethnically-diverse, densely forested strip on the northern coast of South America!

Guyana (Forbes Burnham)
UA: Co-operative Republic - Receives free Social Policies instead of Trade Route slots. +2 Gold from Customs Houses.

UU: People’s Militia - Replaces the Infantry. Acts as a worker during peacetime. Produces 10 Gold upon finishing an improvement.

UB: Mass Games Arena - In addition to the Happiness bonuses of the Stadium, which it replaces, the Mass Games Arena provides Golden Age Points when constructed, and +5% Great People production per ideological tenet.

Suriname (Dési Bouterse)
UA: Sergeant’s Coup - Great Generals lower the Defensive Strength of adjacent enemy cities by 5 each. Great Generals end a city’s resistance upon entering its borders. Receive a Great General whenever a Military or Gold building is produced in the capital.

UU: Nationaal Leger - Replaces the Marine. Earns Great Generals 50% faster. +5 XP whenever a Great General is born.

UB: Porknokker – Replaces the Hydro Plant. No terrain or resource requirements, and fairly cheap. +2 Production. +1 Gold per mined resource worked by this city. May be built twice per city.

note:The buildings that spawn Great Generals are: Barracks, Market, Mint, Armory, Forge, Bank, Military Academy, Stock Exchange, and Porknokker.

French Guiana (Georges Othily)
UA: La France Équinoxiale - French Guiana receives access to any techs its friends have discovered, but loses those techs when the friendship ends. If French Guiana receives a tech this way while researching it, that research progress is partially refunded as Culture. Upon ending a friendship, permanently gain all prerequisite techs to the one currently being researched.

UU: Jungle Legion - Replaces the Infantry. Starts with the Woodsman promotion (double movement through forest and jungle). Receives Science from kills.

UB: Refugee Housing - In addition to the effects of the Constabulary, which it replaces, the Refugee Housing generates a small burst of food whenever a city is captured in a war you are not part of (this effect has a cooldown that varies based on how much food you received). Additionally, receive a small burst of culture whenever the city’s population increases.

A few warnings due to the quirks of the lua: Including multiple copies of Suriname or French Guiana in the same game may cause their UAs to bug out, as will putting French Guiana on a team (but really, does anyone play games with teams?). Also, because there is no lua trigger for DoFs, French Guiana’s UA does not acknowledge the start and end of friendships until the beginning of its turn.

Currently compatible with Unique Cultural Influence and YNAEMP, however their TSLs are too close to be included in the same game.

Big thanks to the Civ V Modding Helpline Discord, and especially EmeraldRange, for helping fine-tune the designs for these civs!

There is a potential bug with French Guiana where being granted the tech does not trigger notifications of the resource on the map: For example, when unlocking iron, horses, etc you will not be notified of their presence on the map and the resource image will not be revealed.

Also having issues with, having been granted the tech for Optics, units are still unable to embark.

There is currently an issue with Guyana where their social policy costs never increase, it's always 25 culture no matter how many you get. So they are unintentionally massively OP as a result, as they can quickly fill out every policy tree in the game.

I'm having trouble getting these civs to appear in the YnAEMP selection lists, especially in Giant Earth, even though they have valid TSL coding. Is anybody else having this problem?

I'm of Guyanese heritage, so it's cool to see a Civilization based around Guyana finally! I was thinking there'd be something to do with Gold (the resource, not the yield) or Sugar, but this is very good as well.

I will strike again until someone releases a civilisation worth subscribing to, i cannot take this drought any further. I want you to want to make my mouth water and you just crush my hope time after time. You shan't toy with me in this way any further. You have been warned,

Upon further reading, those are some cool uniques. I especially like the ideas behind the refugee housing, Co-Operative Republic, and the Central Preserve.

Oh sweet! The intersection of Dutch, English, French, Maroon, Indian, and countless other cultures in South America. What a wonderful modpack!
