1x UI scaling

Description
1x UI Scaling
Added by request for someone with a low screen resolution. This isn't something most people will want. This is for those who can't use certain mod content with larger interfaces - such as my inventory mods (especially the 180 slot patch) or really large containers - because it is too much to fit on screen.

Not to be confused with zoom, this affects the on screen size of interfaces themselves. This mod forces it to be 1x. For most of you (I assume), you're using 2x UI Scaling. Not that Starbound gives you an option to change it.

As you can see from the screenshots - this makes interfaces too small for my screen, but for a few this may be just what they need.

Questions
Q: Why is everything is too small?
A: This mod isn't for you because you don't have a low resolution screen. Be glad you don't need it.

Q: Can't you do 1.5x scaling or something?
A: Nope because Starbound's engine cuts off the decimal.
  • 1.5 gets treated as 1.
  • 2.4 gets treated as 2.
  • So radical jumps in scaling are the only choice.

Q: Can you do an in-game slider to adjust UI scale?
A: Doing so is beyond Starbound's modding API. Something like that could only be added by the devs. And it wouldn't be all that useful without without supporting decimal value multipliers anyhow.

Q: How do you use this mod?
A: Click the "Subscribe" button.

Thanks to you, I now see how I could set my UI scaling to be smaller or bigger. Since I play on a laptop at around a screen resolution of 1280x680 (an aspect ratio of 32:17), I've been looking for something like this for a while, especially since I'd accidentally changed the UI scaling to 1x (presumably through one of the mods that I had downloaded and installed).

Now I just have to find some mods that offer slightly upscaled text, since unfortunately, 1x scaling makes small text a bit difficult to read.

i tried out the instructions for the 3x ui scaling mod which is this, i already change the folder you need to open

You may need to copy this mod's contents.pak file to your local mods folder (from Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/211820/1782208070 to Starbound/mods). Something about how it loads from the workshop may prevent it from working when running it from the Workshop (You can rename the contents.pak file in Starbound/mods as desired, so long as it maintains the .pak extension).

The mod still works you just need to move it for it to work UwU

i found a solution! it appears you can go down in scale after you gone up, so i uninstalled starbound (after backing up player and universe), unsubscribed from all mods after making them into a collection, deleting the directory. next install from scratch, and reinstall every mod from collection (besides ui scale ones) and it will return to normal.

what underlying settings does this mod or similar ones edit exactly?

i cant seem to change ui anymore at all. i uninstalled the game completely, re verified files, even with a blank slate i cant change ui with mods or config whatsoever, its too large for my screen, i tried different resolutions and even different monitor sizes (24 in and 32 in) and it is the same size irl across monitors. this is very confusing can anyone help? my inventory when i open is around half of my 24in monitor and it makes the game hardly playable
