Phoenix Class Sport Yacht

Description
Welcome to the pride an joy flagship of the Saxmo's Gismos product line: the Phoenix Class Sport Yacht. This is a lite/heavy armor large-ship / small-ship hybrid grid, high performance personal sports ship. The design of the Phoenix Class is heavily influenced by fighter air craft, Bird of prey stylized Sci-Fi Ships, and top-down scrolling shooter video games.

She is intended to be a personal hot rod version of an exploration ship, able to fill several different roles while being small and agile, able to adapt to almost any mission requirement. Ideal for hit and run tactics, The Phoenix class sorts two jump drives (one is off by default) allowing a jump in, hit, and jump out functionality. She even has a landing gear that is hidden in each wing to allow a secure landing or to grab objects with, and a Spotlight that is hidden behind a block in the nose.

Crew compartment:
The Phoenix Class is optimized for a crew of 1, but can house up to 3 with an additional crew bed and a cryopod.
The ship has a full life support suite including and airlock, cryopod, several O2/H2 Generators, an oxygen tank, a survial kit and assemblers.

Power:
The Phoenix has a couple different power systems including: Nuclear Reactors, Hydrogen Generators, and Batteries.

Maneuverability:
The ship is highly maneuverable, with several gyroscopes hidden in the wings, and two large hydro thrusters as the primary mode of vector control. This craft's maneuverability shines in lunar gravity, but she is also very agile in Earth-like and alien gravity as well. She can achieve maximum speed very quickly and execute a flip and burn maneuver to stop almost on a dime. She is designed to maneuver similarly to a fighter jet in atmosphere, using the several thrusters located in the blunt surface of the belly to rotate and bank very quickly. This ship can run circles around similarly sized craft, and strafe at the same time.

Weapons:
Inspired but the top-down shooter gaming genre and they bird-of-prey stereotype, the Phoenix Class uses the rotor transition trick from large to small grids to position 6 wing-tip bore-firing small-ship gatling guns in a forward fixed firing position. Also located on the wing tips as well as mounted on the dorsal hull are 3 small-ship missile turrets. Finally, inline with the central mounted cockpit, is a large ship rocket launcher equipped with a targeting camera for accuracy.

Rover hanger:
As an added bonus, located in the rear mechanical section of the ship is a Keen SWH Rover that has been edited to fit the internal and mechanical structure of the Phoenix. the rover is connected to the ship via a rear mounted connector and can be deployed via dropping it out the bottom of the hanger. The Rover hanger also includes a retrieval arm that reaches down and attaches a rotor to a rotor part located on the rover, and timer blocks that activate to pull the rover back into the hanger.

multi-role:
The rover hanger is a void between the 4 hydrogen tanks that feed the hydrogen thrusters. This void can be modified to house several different types of craft, and can also be refit to house almost any additional equipment. She can also serve as a drop ship with the hanger being modified to hold troops, or additional survival kits to fill a medical retrieval boat role. the entire space can be filled to house an additional jump drive for even longer distance exploration.

Personal note:
From the time I was in high school, into joining the army and deploying to war, i had taken up doodling random scenes in simple paper and pencil as a hobby. This overall design was actually something I had freehand drawn, and became a running theme in several of my sketches. I didn't realize i was drawing the same ship until decades later when I recently rediscovered some of my drawings and compared notes. I decided to create that ship in SE, in accordance with my original concept of it's features. the overall idea was something similar to a Star Trek Deep Space 9 Runabout, but highly stylized and fielded as a personal yacht with internal amenities to sustain a person as a long-term mobile home. The recent decorative pack that include several creature comforts helped make this build come very close to my originally imagined interior. I attempted over 40 different hull designs and schemes before finally settling on this set up. In the several iterations of me attempting to match my childhood imagination, I realized i had the space for a small craft bay in the rear compartment. so for an added bonus, this ship also includes a modified Keen SWH rover.

I hope you enjoy my childhood imagination :)
