Description
A few years removed from an All-American football career at the University of South Carolina, Del Wilkes began wrestling for the AWA in 1988 as The Trooper, but he's more well known as The Patriot, a gimmick that he started using in 1991 while working for the Global Wrestling Federation.

The Patriot reached his peak while feuding with Bret Hart in the WWF over the WWF Championship in July 1997. However, after tearing his triceps ahead of Survivor Series later that year, Wilkes retired from wrestling.
