Kugelblitz

The Kugelblitz is a long range front-sider based on the Singularity that is designed to kill anything not using lasers, as it uses a warp drive to avoid slow missiles and most shells.

At a cost of 800k resources the Kugelblitz is armed with two 500mm:8m APS burst cannons as its primary weapons, each loaded with ~320 shells and firing ~100 per gun per volley. The right side cannon fires disruptor+HEAT+Frag shells designed to instantly wipe out the targets shields while the left side cannon, firing HESH+Frag, deals the majority of the damage. For secondaries the Kugelblitz is armed with two 200mm APS Frag cannons, which serve to weaken enemy LAMS with the occasional smoke round and act as the only relatively consistent damage the kugelblitz has. Finally as tertiary weapons the Kugelblitz has two small missile silos, one with EMP+Frag missiles and the other with torpedoes. There are also two CIWS/AA guns underneath but they can only reliably shoot down small missiles, and serve to remove distractions from the LAMS.

The front of the Kugelblitz is fully shielded with between 4 and 12 layers of shields depending on the shots angle. The sides, belly, and 'deck' all have around 4 layers, with some areas further back only having 2 layers. While it does have smoke it warps too often for it to be of much use, though the shields do switch to anti-laser shields when lasers are detected this makes it much weaker against APS.


Current tests have shown that the Kugelblitz can reliably kill:
all DWG vehicles,
all OW vehicles,
the Thyr,
the Extinction,
the Warlord,
the (currently broken) Singularity.


Against my other capital ships:
Concordia V1 (1M): Kugelblitz wins,
Concordia V2 (1.5M): inconclusive,
Unity: stalemate, the Kugelblitz eventually ran out of fuel and was destroyed.


Planned changes: the warp drive seems to have stopped working, so that’ll be fixed, and the underside armour needs changing, since Concordia (V2) managed to destroy the main guns while not being crippled.
