Michael P.S. Hayes

Michael "P.S." Hayes, the leader of The Fabulous Freebirds, formed the stable in Mid South Wrestling in 1979. The original trio of Hayes, Terry Gordy, and Buddy Roberts worked throughout the NWA territories for the next severla years, and although the group would break up in the mid-80's The Freebirds would reform with other iterations and members into the 90's.

The Freebirds won tag titles in multiple organizations over the years, and often held and defended titles using "The Freebird Rule," which let any combination of the group's members fight in championship matches at any time, as well as allowed each member to be recognized as a champion. Numerous tag teams would later take advantage of the rule across multiple major promotions.

The Freebirds were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016.
