Land Rover Forward Control

This vehicle is based off of a prototype land rover series 2A forward control that was created for the British army in 1963 in order to fill the requirement of a truck capable of carrying 1.5 tons. The truck was equipped with a 6 cylinder engine and a four wheel drive system but was not accepted into service so the prototype was sent back to the Rover factory where it was used as a recovery vehicle at their vehicle test track, the livery shown was applied there. It served as a recovery vehicle there for over 20 years before being retired, it was later refurbished and is now on display at the British Motor Museum.
