TARDIS

This is an adaptation of TARDIS for Construction Simulator 2015. This vehicle is required to play the "TARDIS Travels" mission. It cannot be driven like a car, it travels by teleportation only. You can teleport to any regular game location, as with any other vehicle in CS2015. But in the "TARDIS travels" mission, it has a mind of its own. This allows the player to visit locations in the CS2015 world that are impossible to reach otherwise.

As for any Workshop vehicle, subscribe to this mod. In the game, go to the vehicle dealer and buy TARDIS in the "Import vehicles" section for 100000$.

Background
----------------

The TARDIS ("Time And Relative Dimension In Space") is a fictional time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television series "Doctor Who" and its various spin-offs.

Doctor Who's TARDIS has the appearance of an old British police telephone box (police box). A police box is a public telephone kiosk or callbox for the use of members of the police, or for members of the public to contact the police. It was used in the United Kingdom throughout the 20th century from the early 1920s. Unlike an ordinary callbox, its telephone was located behind a hinged door so it could be used from the outside, and the interior of the box was, in effect, a miniature police station for use by police officers. It contained a telephone linked directly to the local police station, allowing patrolling officers to keep in contact with the station, reporting anything unusual or requesting help if necessary. A light on top of the box would flash to alert an officer that they were requested to contact the station. Police boxes predate the era of mobile telecommunications; nowadays members of the British police carry two-way radios and mobile phones rather than relying on fixed kiosks. Most boxes are now disused or have been withdrawn from service.

Doctor Who has become so much a part of British popular culture that the shape of the police box has become associated with the TARDIS rather than with its real-world inspiration. The name TARDIS is a registered trademark of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

TARDIS travels by dematerialising at one point and rematerialising elsewhere. This ability to travel simply by fading into and out of different locations became one of the trademarks of the show. The distinctive accompanying sound effect is a cyclic wheezing, groaning noise. It has been described as "a kind of haunted grinding sound".

Technical

For this adaptation of TARDIS for Construction Simulator 2015, I started with a model named "Doctor Who Type 40 Tardis" modeled in Blender by "Four Mad Men". I modified it and simplified it in Blender to suit my purposes, for example I needed wall panels that were transparent from the inside only, so that the player would have a relatively unobstructed view of the surroundings. I then turned it into a playable CS2015 vehicle using the CS2015 Vehicle Editor. I gathered free Sounds from various sources and altered them using Audacity to suit my purposes. I added a rotating beacon from the editor prefabs.

There is an unwritten rule in the 3D design world, that every 3D environment must have a TARDIS. This is it for CS2015.
