Description
Crawler-Transporter
"The crawler-transporters, formally known as the Missile Crawler Transporter Facilities, are a pair of tracked vehicles used to transport spacecraft from NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) along the Crawlerway to Launch Complex 39. They were originally used to transport the Saturn IB and Saturn V rockets during the Apollo, Skylab and Apollo–Soyuz programs. They were then used to transport Space Shuttles from 1981 to 2011. " -wikipedia

Mobile Launcher Platform
"The Mobile Launcher Platform (MLP) is one of three two-story steel structures used by NASA at the Kennedy Space Center to support the Space Shuttle stack throughout the build-up and launch process: during assembly at the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), while being transported to Launch Pads 39A and B, and as the vehicle's launch platform. NASA's three MLPs were originally constructed for the Apollo program to launch the Saturn V rockets in the 1960s and 1970s, and remained in service through the end of the Shuttle program in 2011 with alterations" -wikipedia

Crawler and MLP in SE
This is a faithful 1:1 recreation of the Mobile Launcher Platform, more specifically MLP built for space shuttles, and the famous Nasa Crawler Transporter that carried said MLP and STS to the launch pads. No shuttle included, but a kit containing all of these will come later for convenience (upload issues :c)

Controls are simple.
1 Braking on/off
2 Cruise control forward
3 Cruise control reverse
4 Unlocks the MLP from the crawler to be raised off

Use the cruise control instead of wasd, you'll see why.

Connects to the shuttle via the umbilical from the left Tail Service Platforms.
Capped at a realistic speed of a blistering 0.75ms. Due to its blinding fast speed I recommend you use the cruise control, set it on a precise heading and do something in the meantime or remove the cap and watch it scoot.

At 44K blocks and 60K+ PCU, this combo is hefty. But owing to the lack of many subgrids it still runs fine on my end. I'm honestly amazed by the performance considering how complex it is. Keen has done something right :)

Last image from NASA, gorgeous shot of Discovery rolling onto the pad on top of the crawler/MLP.

Well, when I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

http://www.capcomespace.net/dossiers/espace_US/shuttle/ksc/MLP/MLP%20TSM%20dessin%2001.jpg Tail service masts most certainly do have umbilical features. They get quickly retracted in at launch so they may be hard to see but they're there. Here's another angle of the real thing https://www.nasaspaceflight.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/A313.jpg

The real big umbilicals for lox venting and cryocooling are on the tower yes, but the shuttle needed these connections as well.

If you can modify the MLP so that it can pass components/ingots/ore to and from containers located in the payload bay of the shuttle (as I've asked for in the comments on your shuttle page) via the connector, it would be absolutely wonderful.

Also, a nitpick: the real Mobile Launching Platform doesn't have the umbilicals. Those are located, along with the crew elevator, on the Mobile Service Tower, which is located at Pad 39A, allowing it to move back when not in use.

Adding an MST to your MLP wouldn't be accurate in that sense, but you've already decided to take artistic liberties to add the umbilical connections to the Mobile Launching Platform, so it's not too much of a stretch.

Stunning work!

Anyone have a video of it in action? Doubt I could load it up myself. :)

lol quickly flicking through the screen shots then land on the last one and think "wow thats quite detailed"

Amazing work :)

@Lagmaster_3000 Paste it on the yellow connector seen in one of the two large parts sticking out on the platform. There's a matching connector on the left side of the shuttle hull, connect the two and you're set.. Pressing 7 on the shuttle disconnects this.

how do u get the shuttle on the platform xD
