Ship v1.5

Description
There was not much good ship examples that looks reasonable good and it is functional at the same time.
I have not even found one that use advantage of ship crafting mod. Not even one example with usage of arched timbers part that are most common thing in ship designs.

Most difficult thing is to create functional steering.
After several failed attempts, I come up with over engineered steering mechanism. It is still not perfect, but it is least glitchy in game of several aproaches to solve issues.

Overall standing on moving boat can be very glitchy due to game engine limitation, therefore, siting chair mod is highly recommanded.
Becasue of that, most simple leverage rudder not working well, it is very difficult to steer and stay on the boat at the same time.

Two leverage system, one leverage connected to catch block with ship steering wheel and on the other end second leverage connected to rudder that is pushed left or right as you move steering wheel. Well, that one kind of works, you are able to easy push rudder left or right, but it is hard to fine tune exact steering angle and have good control of ship heading.

So, I come up with using gear mod for steering mechanism. It is not without glitch either, but it is more tolerable and forgiving than other mentioned solutions. When you press steering, either, trough controlable drumm, or directly trough usage key on steering wheel, gears is capable to turn bigger gear directly connected to rudder.

But, due to outside forces from waterflow as ship moves trough water, those forces push back gear block. And when those forces are too high, gears slips trough each other. To overcome this issue, rudder must not be too big, otherwise gears slips. Still, rudder have to be big enough to be able to steer the ship in the first place.

I tried to optimise size of rudder, so that is reasonable controlable, but when it start to slips, it indicate that you are simply going too fast to be able to turn. Solution is simple: slow down !

When you travel within resonable speed limits, whole ship is easy to control by only one person. Whenever you start to feel that you are loosing control over ship, raise unnecessary sails. I found that is more easy to control ship with active sails in front of ship than one at the back.

Rudder is also created in a way that it tends to position itself amidships. Therefore, I created mechanism that shows in front of you exact position of rudder and at what angle it steers.

I have avoided to put any decorative stuff on ship, as I thought that most of you want to customise it further and adjust for personal needs. Therefore, for easier customization, rudder is still fixed by additional catch blocks, so that you can reposition more easy steering mechanisim if you need to do so.

While it is created as sail ship, I belive that hull design is good enough and can be easy adjusted for usage of steam engines and propelers. I still have preserved blueprints with ship attached to support and even earlier variant where gear box is rigid attached too. Let me know if you need that one, so I will publish that too if there is enough interest.

And I could not figure out proper name for this craft, feel free to add suggestion in comments. It was like 15 different variations on design starting from V0.1 up to V1.5 until I published reasonable good craft.

Small album of crafting process can be found on imgur: https://imgur.com/a/Oot5CPi

Tested with (272 tons) 68 tons of cargo. (16 stone stockpiles or 1360 large stones).
Length: 25m Width: 10m Draft: 5m (on full load)
Ship with controlable steering. Have only just
necessary parts. It is up to you to turn it into cargo
ship, fishing ship, explorer or something else.

Miscalculated cargo weight, realised year after publishing blueprint. Regardless, decent capacity for ship of this size

I have added screenshot with measured velocity with train steam gauges parts. It depends on wind, but in good conditions it can go up to 30 km/h maybe slightly more.
