Giant Bernard

After leaving WWE in 2004, Matt Bloom began working for AJPW as Giant Bernard, and in 2006, he made his NJPW debut.

He nearly won the IWGP Heavyweight Title in 2006, losing to Hiroshi Tanahashi in the finals of a tournament to crown a new champion.

Bernard won his first gold in NJPW alongside Tomko, as the duo won the IWGP Tag Team Titles in 2007. The duo won the G1 Tag League in 2007. He later formed a successful tag team with Karl Anderson - Bad Intentions.

Anderson and Bernard captured the IWGP Tag Team titles and won a G1 World Tag League as well. Bad Intentions held the titles for a record 564 day reign before losing the titles at Wrestle Kingdom VI. Not long after dropping the titles, Bloom left NJPW and resigned with WWE.
