ETS2 Physics' Tweak (Dry Surfaces)

Description
I PREFER THIS OVER MINE: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=713338424

*******************************

For 1.35+; SCS made more improvements; examine Game Preference options to see them.

DRY SURFACE

Compatible with vesions 1.35+ of ETS2, WILL NOT WORK on EARLIER VERSION. (SCS made more physics changes with release of 1.35.)

This mod . . .
- provides dry-surface tire traction (slightly reduced from SCS' default so tire choice & maintenance have more impact).
- changes shape of BRAKE-STRENGTH characteristics. I find it most helpful when "air brake simulation" is enabled because light pedal pressure is possible (good braking control without releasing air); slow-speed gradual braking requires more pedal pressure.(1)
- increases the rate at which SERVICE BRAKES heat, and reduces the speed at which they cool. This is AlexeyP's work; I believe the intent of this tweak is to encourage use of retarders and engine brakes on steep down grades by making overuse of service brakes dangerous: IRL hot brakes fade, but haven't seen it game.
- increases cabin PITCHING (increases allowed forward & backward movement) and lengthens OSCILLATION (reduces damping) of trucks' cabins while accelerating and braking. (Default ROLL remains intact.)
- increases MASS of truck (independently of chassis mass). Cabin+Driver= 1200kgm (~2650lbm), wheel+tire=@127kgm(~280lbm)
- provides more driver movement, simulating an airseat ride. Note: I like my seat to be agile :)

===== credits =====
I learned about physics parameters values from . . .
1) studying mods written by AlexeyP and Frknm64.
2) reading this fabulous post by Cadde: https://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=189379 (it's outdated, but exceptionally informative)

(1) I use this mod with . . .
- a Thrustmaster T300 wheel with T3PA pedals (with DIY load-cell mod).
- Brake intensity slider slightly left of center in Gameplay Options

thanks man, it's a great mod. I will wait. <3

not yet :( I will update it in a few days

Is it working on 1.49?

config_local.cfg:
uset g_brake_intensity "0.5" //max = 3 - is very good work! (tested in ATS 1.46)

OK. I read values 0.6 or 0.85. Unfortunately, I don't have a steering wheel. I play with controller. I'm currently in ATS, of course with your values too. I have to reassemble ETS after update 1.46, I have a lot of mods running.

@kretschner, 0.5 brake intensity is too low; I increased it.

alright, I'll work with that. I think values for towing and shaking of the cabin when braking and starting are better for simulating. You don't drive very much without a load anyway. For looking at the environment and exploring vantage points, I'll use a mobile home or car later;-) First of all, thanks for the answer, I'll test your values!

values found in my text notes are obsolete

config.cfg:
- uset g_cabin_suspension_stiffness "0.5" //range 0.0-??
- uset g_suspension_stiffness "0.2" //range 0.0-1.0
- uset g_trailer_stability "0.1" //range 0.0-0.5
- uset g_driveshaft_torque "0.5" //range 0.0-1.0
- uset g_truck_stability "0.5" //range 0.0-0.5

config_local.cfg:
uset g_brake_intensity "0.5" //max = 3??

I like heavy haul; finding one perfect brake-intensity for good performance for both bob-tailing and hauling is a work in progress ;)

Good morning Eddie, after the update I had to look at many mods manually and I delved deeper again. The config.cfg to be edited can be found very hidden in steam players. With me below

C\programs(86)\steam\userdata\numberfolder\numberfolder\remote\profiles\numberfolder\config.cfg.

There ALL parameters can be entered by numbers except brake strength (config_local). Since update 1.46, driveshift torque in ETS and ATS can now be switched off using a slider.
When comparing texts and images, I noticed the following: The values for braking strength vary between 0.85 and 0.6 and 0.5.
In the case of suspension stiffness, the text shows 0.0, in the photo you have 0.2. What value are you currently working with?
