Keep It Quiet

(Whispering sharply) Hey you... come over here!

Whew, it seems like we are safe here for the moment, but I'll keep whispering just so I don't draw unwanted attention. Thanks for stopping in to check out my guide even in the midst of a bone-chilling Zombie Apocalypse. I know you are probably dead on your feet, so to speak, but I have some things I'm dying to pass on to you. Unfortunately I have some grave news to warn you about. It seems that I used all the best Zombie puns in my guide for Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapter 1. *GASP!* Don't worry though! I'll try to dig up more puns while you are digesting the details in this guide.

The developers decided to change a few things up in Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapter 2 so I'll be sure to cover that as well. I really recommend you at least skim through the Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapter 1 guide as much of the information there is relevant to Chapter 2 also, plus you'll be treated to some silly zombie puns. You can read it here: Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapter 1 Guide

Of course, I'll also vomit up some of the same details in this guide as the game play is basically identical, meaning the tips and tricks are exactly the same. I hope that won't bore you to death!

WARNING!!
And as a reminder... this guide contains spoilers, but I will include that information after the Game Play Overview and General Tips and Tricks sections, so you can at least read those sections without fear of exposure!

Game Play Overview
Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapters 1 - 3 features 4 different types of game play, which I'll refer to as mini games just for ease. These mini game types are: Events, Solitaire, Match-3 and Fragmented Object scenes. The map is color-coded so that you can identify levels of each type.

Chapter 2 technically doesn't have "fragmented object" scenes, but more of "click on objects in the correct order" scenes, but that is much harder to type, so take what you get!

Levels with a faint blue outline (i.e. level 18) are Events, levels with no colored outline (i.e. level 19) are the solitaire levels, levels with an orange outline (i.e. level 20) are Match-3 bouts, and finally levels with a green outline (i.e. level 21) are Fragmented Object scenes. These will be covered in more detail later in the guide!

General Tips and Tricks
These tips and tricks are targeted to the solitaire portion of the game, and probably apply to most solitaire games of this type. I can see you're dying to get started so without further ado...

Learn the Cards
Each card, from Ace to King, features a unique Zombie in differing poses. On most levels one or more cards will be partially covered and it is invaluable to be able to determine what the covered card is so that you can make intelligent decisions. This will give you a leg up on the game! Note that many of them have similar poses that only differ by clothing color. Number cards are tinged a baby blue while face cards are tinged with pale orange.

Wildcard Cards
This might be a no-brainer , but you should be careful not to waste wildcards. They don't cost an arm and a leg, but "waste not, want not" still holds true. You cannot have 2 cards of the same value in your wildcard collection.

Consider the image below, for example. There is an 8 Wildcard on the board and in my hand. If I click on the 8 wildcard on the board while I still have an 8 wildcard in my hand, I will forfeit (waste) the second wildcard. It is most cost effective to use the 8 wildcard in your hand before collecting the 8 wildcard on the board. Sometimes the cards just do not play out in such a way that you can do this, but keep it in mind.

Stars In Your Eyes
On some solitaire hands you can achieve three stars without getting a "perfect" (removing all cards). Since the game only has achievements based on three stars per level and not for perfects, you can save your power-ups and wildcards by simply leaving cards on the board if needed once you have removed enough cards to receive three stars. Money should not be an issue and the special cards are cheap so it is not a big deal, but the choice is up to you.

Special Power-up Cards
Make no bones about it, some of the power-up cards in Zombie Solitaire 2 are very powerful. The Zombie Blaster and Joker power-ups are so powerful it is almost impossible to lose a hand if you make use of them. I find myself attempting not to use the power-ups just to keep some challenge in the game. You may feel differently, but I try to stick to only the lower-end power-ups and wildcards.

And be aware and beware of wasting a power up. The Shotgun cannot remove chained cards, however the Zombie Blaster can. In this case I wasted my Shotgun card and had to restart the level.

Get Me Out of Here
In Chapter 1 it was necessary to occasionally find 10 pieces of a shattered item that would assist you in escaping the Zombie hordes. These "fragmented object" scenes as I like to call them, have been replaced in Chapter 2 with "Sequence Puzzles" for lack of a better name. You have to escape the area by taking action (clicking) in a specific sequence. There are only 2 of these scenes in Chapter 2.

There is nothing noteworthy or difficult that really needs a solution in this guide, but it would be rather rotten not to include them merely for completeness. Plus I'm deadicated to creating the best guide possible.

The Crash Site

You transition from Chapter 1 to Chapter 2 via a harrowing helicopter crash! You better get out of here soon as the noise is sure to draw a crowd. Grab a a key from the raven and a long branch to whack the money box from the tree, to be on your way in no time. (You can interact with some items that do not seem necessary to finish an area.)

The Cable Car

Want to get away? Then you have to fix the electrical panel post haste! Grab the screwdriver from the closed junction box then use it to repair the sparking panel. Open the doors of the tram, to reveal a button, that mysteriously won't work until you read the flyer lying on the floor! Ah, now that's using your head!

Close Encounters of the Zombie Kind
Chapter 2 seems to have much lamer events than Chapter 1, at least in my opinion. They seem contrived and nearly pointless this time. Sure, the sprained ankle plays into the map where you character voices pain between levels and the footsteps are awry, but mostly the events could be missing and you may not notice.

The Pond

Look a pond... and me without my water filtration tablets. What's a few intestinal parasites between friends? Drink the water to find 20 gold coins or continue on your way for no gain.

The Tree Trunk

Hello? Thumper and Bambi is that you? Nope, a zombie girl stuck in a hollow log! Choices here are to walk away or lose 50 gold coins being a good Samaritan.

The Bridge

The game mechanic after this point requires that you sprain your ankle, so no matter what you do here you will lose 100 gold. Best to spend all of your gold on wildcards and power up cards before this level so that you have nothing to lose or less to lose. You've been warned.

The Forest

Here is a chance to magically acquire a full set of wild cards just by being a Magician's Assistant for a few moments. Otherwise you can bypass it to get nothing.

The Farm

A pointless event as there is only 1 outcome no matter your choice. Take the route you prefer then play the round of solitaire. At least you do not lose any gold coins in this encounter.

The City

Well we're moving on up, to the east side, to a deluxe apartment in the sky... Speaking of sky, this event is out there, in more ways than one. Again this one is pointless as your choice means nothing. Pick a route and get back to the game playing.

The Cowshed

Apparently zombies can't stomach the smell of cow manure. Apply it to yourself for 1 gold coin and apparently skipping the level. Otherwise play solitaire, which is why you bought the game!

The Pirate Ship

Arrghh matey! Ye made it to yon pirate ship. Shiver me timbers. Plank or cannon, which will it be? Walk the plank ye landlubber and walk right aboard. Choose the cannon to lose 300 gold and all your wildcards.

Sticker Collection Glitch
I discovered a loophole that allows you to collect multiple stickers very easily. I did not find this in Chapter 1, so I do not know if it happens there or not. If you find a sticker on a level, then replay that level as many times as you want and get a sticker each time (presuming that you uncover the correct card each time). This appears to work in Chapter 1, 2 and 3. Be aware though that by restarting the level you will gain stickers but any gold you gain will not accumulate.

Even if you chose not to take advantage of this glitch, you should have no trouble obtaining all of the collectible stickers by level 100.

Level 45 is Match-4
Apparently level 45 is a match-4 game and not a match-3. Confirmed by the developer in the Steam Discussions. There is only 1 zombie to defeat so it is not that difficult, but I found nothing in the game indicating this level had that requirement. None of the other match-3 levels require matches of 4 tokens to do damage, so not sure what they were thinking!?

Make matches of 4 tokens as best as you can to eliminate the zombie and move on!

Mean Vile - uh - Meanwhile
Wow, 100 levels of solitaire, match-3 and lame events really goes by fast. It seems like you just started reading this guide and it's already time to evacuate the vicinity. Don't fret my friend, as I'm sure we'll meat again in Zombie Solitaire 2 Chapter 3.

Let me leave you with a silly little poem...

Tofu Burger, your taste is most supreme,
but add some hot sauce for a flavor that's extreme.

Hot 'n' juicy, I savored each yummy soy-filled bite,
but deep in my bowels I felt that something wasn't right.

Now I hide in the day, avoiding the insidious light,
and I prowl for some fresh brains all during the night.

Tofu Burger, you miserable chunk of faux meat,
turned me into a zombie doomed to wander the street.
