StereoscopicView

Description
! Press 'Left Ctrl' + 'T' to toggle between normal and stereoscopic view.

How it works: (updated 10 aug 2019)
Main camera is cloned and set at a certain distance and as a child to the main camera.
Move controls are disabled for the cloned camera.
From there it depends on the settings.

Settings: (updated 12 aug 2019)
-Turn on width scaling
Without scaling each camera is set to one half of the screen.
With scaling each camera is projecting to an image wich is squeezed to one half of the screen.
With scaling the image appears darker and draws over the UI; no proper solution found yet.
-Turn off borked effects
Effects that do not work properly on both halves are turned off.
Such effects include: 'OverlayEffect','TiltShiftEffect','FadeEffect','FilmGrainEffect'.
-Turn off color correction
I had a feeling, when selecting none in the options, color correction was never really off;
happens to be the way I like it.
Only works during stereoscopic view.

Other issues:
Mousepointer is borked,
UI is not in stereo,
Undergroundview is weird.
No light reflection from streets and buildings during night.

Somewhere in the future plans:
The bug that itches me the most is the darkness at night.
Getting the 'OverlayEffect' working would be awesome but for now I have no clue how to do.
When the overlayeffect is done undergroundview is easy...I hope.
UI in visualised in stereo is one thing; getting it working in stereo is something else.

Tip: if you have a VR headset; there is free software available (BigscreenVR) that transforms your split screen into 3D.

My mods are published with code.

I tried this mod in 2023, and to my surprise, its still working. Well mostly.

UI simply doesn't work, its useless trying to click or interact with anything, but it can still be used as an easy shortcut to view your game in 3d.

However, I found a Reshade tutorial for 3d View with a headset and it seems to be doing the same thing.

(tested with Oculus quest 2, and Virtual Desktop set to Half screen.)

@ncalifguy4real; Apparently some things have changed.

I'm rewriting the mod; hopefully an extra year of experience can solve some of the issues I encountered last time. (still need some time though)

For now there is a small chance that, by toggling 'hide effects' in the options, you can at least cruise your city again. But the notifications are gone...probably.

Awesome that it works on 3D tv's by the way!
(Also big fan of 3D; just sold my Oculus :steamsad:, waiting for Reverb G2 :steambored:)

@ncalifguy4real; Nope.

Haven't played for a while and I'm totally unaware of any changes in CS.
Only on rare occasions (like this) I check Steam if there are comments about problems (like this).

I shall look into it in the coming days; will let you know!

I have always been a fan of 3D. It just makes sense. I have a LG 3D tv and your mod works great with the 3D glasses. For a while it was allowing me to cruise around in 3D but now one camera sticks like you mentioned. It seems like my water, abandoned buildings and other alerts stopped working and I don't know why. Any thoughts?

@aubergine18; Sorry for the late response.
I have never used other camera mods hence I don't really know.
My mod creates a new camera-rig and sets it to follow the original camera.
In case of movements it will probably work fine, in case of effects most likely less fine.

Is this compatible with other first person camera mods, driving mods, etc?

One eye on Europe, one eye on America?

If you zoom out far enough this is well possible; I use the 'Farther Zoom' mod to do this. It would probably be beneficial to make the distance between the 'eyes' bigger for this purpose so your city would appear more miniature. But there is this problem with culling everything that is outside the original camera. I'm starting to suspect the game was not build for stereo use.

I'd love to be able to look down at my city in VR like its on a table of some sort. That would be awesome
