Royal Norwegian Navy moves to protect trawlers
Arctic Cod Conflict causes deep freeze of Russo-Norwegian relations
OSLO, NORWAY (DGC) As the so called 'Arctic Cod Conflict' escalates, Norway has sent warships to protect trawlers operating in the disputed Russian Exclusive Economic Zone.
The warships are sailing alongside Norwegian trawlers now fishing in Box formation. The skippers said they would not return to the seas without naval protection from Russian gunboats and aircraft. Norwegian fishing vessels have been cruising the area since Russia unilaterally extended its fishing zone eight months ago.
'The Navy is not going to stand idly by and see trawlers harassed,' said Karoline Barth-Westerdahl, a Norwegian state secretary from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She said the warships would take 'appropriate action' if nessecary.
The decision to send in the Navy was made three days ago by the Norwegian Defense Committee with Prime Minister Trond Giske present. The Russian ambassador in Oslo, Aleksei Tutko, said last night that he was 'surprised and disappointed' by the move which he described as 'posturing'.
'These resources belong to the Russian people. The decision to allow Norwegian fishermen an annual 40,000 ton catch in our territorial waters is non-negotiable. The Norwegian demand of 120,000 tons is simply outrageous' said ambassador Tutko.

NOTE:
This Scenario is an adaptation of the first campaign scenario of the now-unsupported game "Naval War: Arctic Circle" by Turbo Tape Games. Since that game is now effectively abandonware, with no support for over 6 years and the source code being released, I wanted to try and start an effort to remake the campaign in Command.
If you own a copy of Naval War: Arctic Circle and are so inclinded to try and remake the scenarios, I encourage you to do so!
Thanks for playing!

Yeah in the original NWAC scenario, it mechanically prevents you from firing until the Russians fire first. You won't be penalized per se for shooting first, but you as a general rule you should obey orders. I don't think it's nesscary to name the trawlers. They were unnamed in the original scenario anyway.

Very fast moving scenario. In the end I wasn't sure whether to engage first and didn't....
The result was the Lightning's soon achieved the victory conditions. I think the only thing that struck me was whether it's worth naming the fishing vessels that you are protecting? Perhaps a nice touch .
