Leaning tower of Pisa (Italian. Torre pendente di Pisa) — the bell tower, part of the ensemble of the city Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (Pisa Cathedral) in Pisa, gained worldwide fame thanks to the unintended slope. The slope of the tower arose during its construction, which lasted several decades and then slowly increased until it was stabilized
The tower is the bell tower of the Catholic Cathedral Duomo Santa Maria Assunta. The architecture of the ensemble had a great influence on the monumental art of Italy XII—XIV centuries.On December 30, 1986, UNESCO awarded the status of world heritage to the whole architectural ensemble
