STOPGAP 2022

Soon after the terror attacks conducted throughout Columbia, Brazil's hand was forced. It was only a matter of time before a constellation of forces could be brought to bear against Brazil, leading to their total defeat. In Ecuador and Venezuela, Brazilian troops were ordered to push hard to meet shortened strategic objectives, and the casualties on all sides increased dramatically. It was now well and truly a race against the clock; the US, with all its power and might, had failed to properly prepare itself for a potential conflict here, and the ample space, infrastructure and capabilities of American military bases and ready-action forces in other parts of the world was not at all the same case in the Caribbean and South America. Neglected areas of supply and maintenance were discovered at the worst possible time, and American leadership faced a logistical and strategic nightmare that was supposed to be fixed by the billions invested in military bases in the late 90's and early 2000's. Spread throughout other regions like the South China Sea and the rest of the Pacific, the Mediterranean and Europe, and Africa, it would be at least another week before strong reinforcements could be allocated to the Ecuadorian front, which was now second in line for reinforcements to Venezuela due to their stronger estimated capacity for defense.
Within a few days of this aggravated conflict, the Brazilians made a breakthrough.
Several mechanized and armored groups pushed past the Ecuadorian frontlines and split their army in two; one side defending the remainder of the Andes territories and the capital, Quito, while the other defends the Ecuadorian coast and lowlands. Both positions are important and are in dire need of help. The friendly air forces currently in Colombia and Ecuador have barely been able to hang on to one front, and now their job has become twice as hard...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- This is a shorter-length ASuW (Ground) scenario, with lots of opportunity to destroy armored forces on the ground with A-10's, AC-130's and AH-64's. That is, if you're able to provide the required fighter escort...
- As in the last scenario, "Escalation", I am utilizing some out-of-country units to represent Brazilian indigenous design which do not exist in the real world but have a place in a much stronger 2022 Brazil. All of these represented units will be enumerated in the briefing.
- This scenario happens before the last two scenarios "Throat Punch" and "Escalation", however it is not necessary to play these before or after this scenario. Instead, if you haven't, play "Political Capital" before this one for better context.

I released another update fixing this issue with the Taura attack. Thanks again for your feedback, I'm glad you played again!

Managed a Triumph which is an improvement on a disaster!
I think the only matter I wasn't so sure on is the attack by the ground forces near Taura. These might need their posture checking as they either don't identify their opponents or don't recognise them as hostile. I don't think these were firing at all? Otherwise all working as expected.

Thanks for the commentary Flanker.

I've released an update that fixes the A-10 loadouts issue and changes the availability of Brazilian Fighters to make the scenario more doable. Let me know what you think!

Ran into a couple of things really. The air cover you refer to above, but realistically you only have the 12 F-35 and any AMRAAM carried by strike aircraft. Once those have gone its pretty one sided. I ended up with F-14's patrolling most of my bases. The one base Taura pretty much starts within SAM coverage and doesn't contribute. The A-10's are carrying quite a few JDAM. These can't be used for the anti armour mission, unless they are intended for a different strike?

I tended to find I couldn't get a foothold over the strike area and also protect the aircraft returning to base.
