Description:

Xaerthus' Rail & Air Industries has the honour to introduce the first locomotive oficially using the newest huge steam engines and also the first in a series of authentic and detailed real locomotive replicas. Here the original was a Seaboard Airline no. 250 Mountain Class (picture provided). Despite it being a detailed replica, our engineers at X-RAI proceeded with utmost care to ensure best performance and least game speed impact possible. And it does perform quite well. It can pull over 800 tons and it can easily get over 100 km/h with 10 or more cars.

Setup instructions:

Place blueprint on straight piece of track and you are ready to go!

Operating hints:

- The engines can be reached for switching/grabbing throttle by climbing on the front of the engine and walking on the sideskirts.
- The engines can be refueled by clicking on the down-rear part of the side of the engine. It is a bit tricky at the beginning but once you know where to click, its easy to use.
- If the wheels slip throttle down a bit until they 'catch' again. Slipping wheels have almost no grip, so you will be going slower. Good throttle balance is especially important when getting up too speed. Also giving too much throttle when beginning to move may damage the engine.
- If the wheels slip and the engine won't move, place weights the weighting jars between the wheels. Due to newest innovations in traction technology even the slightest weight will make a difference.
- Clanging and crackling noises are normal and should not be worried about.
- The engine has no breaks. To slow down, just decrease the throttle. If more stopping power is needed, throttling up in reverse works great.
- Do not stand freely in your cab while going fast. Bad things may happen otherwise. For better visibility use spectator cam. For slow and delicate manouvres you can also just stand outside.
- It is wise to check the wheels for damage regularly as they will be getting worn when driving at high speed. A quick whack with the hammer will immediately bring them back into shape.

You mean like have a coal tipper to fill the tender etc.? It only works with stockpiles for now and there are no stockpiles for coal yet. So although it would be cool, it won't happen any time soon probably.

wouldn't it be nice to have the equinox core to be able to dump resources into a train?

@that guy @Owl It's operated in the exact same way as anything else that uses the steam engine mod: turn the engine on with the big wheel, grab the remote throttle on the left hand side valves and use the controls (default R,T,Y) to drive the loco. If you haven't used steam engines before, please visit the mod's workshop page, everything should be explained there.

yes, quite a mystery we have. if only there was some sort of document or writing to tell us how to operate the behemoth of a machine
