►🔥 Full Name - M4 Sherman 🔥◀ [/b]
▷ M4 "Sherman" - the main medium tank of the United States during World War II. On classifications-the average. Developed in 1940, it was mass-produced from 1942 until the end of the war. As part of the lend-lease program, the USSR received more than 4 thousand Sherman tanks. Soviet tankers called this combat vehicle "emcha" (from the designation M4) and loved it. To get to serve on an American tank was considered lucky. The convenience of work crews distinguished M4 from any Soviet vehicles. Also, the Soviet tank crews noted the high level of workmanship, "Sherman", the excellent quality of the devices and a powerful radio.Tank "Sherman" is made according to the scheme, more typical for the German tank building of those years: its transmission and control compartment are located in the front part of the body, and the engine compartment – in the rear. Between them is a fighting compartment with a turret of circular rotation, which is located in the center of the body. The crew consisted of five people.
Inside the tank was covered with foam rubber lining, which protected the crew from shrapnel.
This arrangement increased the height of the combat vehicle: designers had to place in the body of the propeller shaft, which went from the engine to the gearbox. Increased the height of the tank and the vertical arrangement of the engine.
