Essex class Super Carrier (VAN)

The Essex class is the answer to a call to suppliment the aging but still very capable Enterprise class ships, while also supplanting the Wasp class as a Fleet type Carrier. Incorperating numerous improvements that were called for after the Xanthi War, the Essex included a novel hanger design which can be closed off into two hangers, which are larger than the the one on the Enterprises, or they can be used as one very large hanger, able to fit up to 4 squadrons of fighters onboard. While these ships have less armor, not being converted from Battleship hulls, the Essex ships are able to deliver twice the amount of fighters and other light ships, giving them a greater importance.
