A divisive figure for MMA fans, the "American Gangster" Chael Sonnen was an accomplished amateur wrestler, with explosive takedowns, a basic, but effective striking game and heavy pressure from the top. All of that, however, was secondary to Sonnen's relentless motor mouth leading up to his fights, building an outsized persona as he ran down his foes before ever facing them in the cage.
