Baserunner - v3.5 (Homeworld DoK)

My latest overhaul to the Baserunner. The core of this upgrade is the new script for the rotor suspension. Other features include LCD support, a rotor turret, a hangar crane and several quality-of-life improvements.

The upgraded suspension will now automatically adjust itself based on the local gravity and the current mass of the vehicle. It now tweaks the suspension while turning for much improved handling and also controls the max steering angles (Ackermann-Steering) for tighter and more stable turns.

Safe top speed has increased to ~120 km/h without scrificing reliability. More momentum will help you overcome slopes much easier.

Make sure to enable scripts in the world options and reset ownership if one of the scripts misbehaves.

The 3.5 Baserunner comes with one of my mods. Unmoded non-suspended wheels and rotors aren't reliable enough imo and limit heavy vehicles in several ways. I was no longer willing to accept these limitations and thus created a mod that eliminates them. The mod doesn't include new parts and it won't impact your fps. I wouldn't have included it otherwise. It simply tweaks a few stats in the game's config files to improve reliability, torque and speed for rotors and wheels.

I always wanted to provide a polished replica of this awesome vehicle for all the Homeworld fans out there. Looks like I'm finally getting there : )

The rough shape and dimensions of this vehicle are based on a workshop upload by Skeleton. I used it with his approval and even though I completely rebuild it inside out, it was a great place to start back then. It saved me a lot of time and gave me a great testbed to figure out the suspension. He deserves credit for that.

This obviously wouldn't be complete without mentioning Homeworld Deserts of Kharak. This upload is a 1:1 replica from the Baserunner in that game. I tried to stay as close as possible to the original because it's awesome. I just love to watch these things jump over dunes ; )
