Pripyat is an abandoned city in the Kiev region of Ukraine.
The city is located on the banks of the Pripyat river, 3 km from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, near the border with Belarus. Kiev is 111 km away.
Before the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the city lived 47500 people, now the permanent population is absent due to the high level of radiation.Pripyat is a city with a pronounced center. Traditionally, the city center housed administrative buildings (city Council), leisure, culture and recreation facilities (cinema "Prometheus", Park, Palace of culture "Energetik", hotel "Polesie"), universal food and manufactured goods stores, hotel complex.
