Economical Hydrogen Engines

Description
Economical Vanilla Hydrogen Block Definition Replacements for:

H2 Large Generator - 10MW & 6X Hydrogen Efficiency

H2 Small Generator - 2.5MW & 6X Hydrogen Efficiency

Fixes Hull's Economical Hydrogen Engines - https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1716080668

1.192.104 and the previous update had several undocumented changes in the XML block definition files and undocumented changes to how some objects work.

Split from Combined Pack:

is this broken? its showing 10mw but its only charging at vanilla rates or am i just not understanding how this game works?

@ShadouFireborn Hey I don't know if you found a solution but I would recommend Expanded Settings. It's a mod that once in place you can set your own efficiency scale for both engines and thrusters.

This mod, alone, is affecting the hydrogen usage of the hydrogen thrusters. I do not have the economical hydrogen thrusters or the combined thrusters and engines mod, only this mod. With this mod removed, the hydrogen thrusters went back to their normal consumption.

I did not want both the hydrogen engines and thrusters mods. Just the engines. Could you please fix this mod so it does not affect thrusters?

I've been searching for something similar to what Nablabla described, with a thermodynamically (and chemically) realistic hydrogen system that respects the conservation of matter and energy. I haven't found anything like that - everything goes the opposite direction.

If somebody were interested in converting the stock O2/H2 generator and H2 Engine to behave realistically (I probably will later and am writing this for my own benefit as much as anything) here's some calculations I did based on keeping its stock 25 kg/s ice consumption rate:

At 100% efficiency the max power req should be (25 kg/s) x (1000 g/kg) x (1 mol/18g) x (237 kJ/mol [gibbs free energy of H20 from H2/O2]) x (1 MJ/ 1000 kJ) = 329MJ/s, or 329 MW. Modern PEM electrolysis is 80% efficient, which would require 411 MW. That's 822x more power than stock; throughput will need to be reduced to keep power consumption reasonable. If I do it I'll base it on the mass/output of real PEM systems.

I don't understand why you would like to have this mod: I want the opposite, an H2-generator producing enough H2 for an H2-engine consumes only 500kW while the engine generates 5MW, so ther is an efficiency of 4500% already !?!?! so you can just use that as power generation, like conveting water into power that is so wrong. The H2 generator should be nerfed to consume 10x more power to make it 100% efficiency or maybe more like 15x more power usage. Does anybody know a mod that fixes this issue?

our server did use it for years and never had any trouble , sad to see this mod go away

So much speculation, such little testing. This DOES effect your jetpacks efficiency tremendously

Im also finding my jet pack lasts way longer since using this mod

I loved to use the old engines in my builds but was always disapointed by many of the issues they had, I am so glad that this has finaly been fixed, thank you very much <3

A engine that eats hydrogen that goes on a large grid would not affect your jetpack unless maybe your jetback is a hydrogen engine.
