Description
Welcome to Manic's Celtic Units - Bringing new unit models to the Insular Celtic cultures of the British Isles and Armorica. Originally modifying only early-game units, this mod now offers new designs for all stages of the game!

Admittedly, this was probably the hardest one to make so far. Mainly because I couldn't find any reliable images of historically-accurate Celtic troops from the Early or High Middle Ages. As such, I eventually gave up looking through the comprehensive historical archives at the University of Google Images and instead decided to just base them mostly on the Welsh and Irish unit designs of Creative Assembly's Thrones of Britannia (with some further inspiration from the Brytenwalda mod for Mount & Blade: Warband). I just thought "hey, those guys did quite a bit of research so the units in that game must look at least a tiny bit historically accurate."

I would also like to offer my thanks to thecains for his help with tracking down some reference images of historically-accurate clothing and equipment to create the mid-game units.

This custom unit pack should be fully compatible with any and all mods for Crusader Kings II, so long as they don't also edit units tied to the 'celticgfx' culture.

Want even more modded units? Or perhaps you're just the nosy type like me? Then I humbly suggest that you check out my other unit mods, located in the Manic's Units workshop collection.

For those experiencing issues with the Workshop, or otherwise wish to bypass it for whatever reason, you can download a file containing all of the Manic's Units mods and add-ons here[www.dropbox.com]. Simply place both the folder(s) and the .mod file(s) in your CK2 mod folder (Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod by default).

All of these mods are both Ironman & savegame compatible.

@ericgodoleshi - It seems I forgot to update the list of required DLC after I recently made models for the mid and late game units. This could be what is causing it. The axe used by early game light infantry is from the Iberian Unit Pack whereas the mid-game heavy infantry and cavalry is from Monks & Mystics , both of which were accidentally omitted from the DLC list. If you don't have these DLCs, the models won't appear.

There seems to be a bug with the mid and late-game units where the heavy infantry are invisible. The cavalry riders are the same and it looks like you are just sending a horse into battle. The early game units mostly work fine, except for the light infantry, who lacks their axe and instead tries to punch the enemy units

Hey all, I'm pleased to announce a relatively big update to this mod. With the help of thecains I have decided to add some new designs for the mid and late-game units. Hope you all enjoy!

I would absolutely love if you redid Alan and Persian Units.

I appreciate you showing some Celtic love! Very nice mod, might have to pick up those unit packs so I can use this later.

Thanks guys!

@Sir Ugu of Uugg - As per your request, my next mod (which I have just released) adds mid and late game units for the Western Slavic cultures. I hope it is to your liking :)

@Signus - Sure, I'll add them to my list :)

It just keeps getting better, perhaps you can try a swing at the eastern slavs?
