Adjustable Transformers

Description
Matt's Mods: Adjustable Transformers
Now compatible with Spaced Out!

Adjust the output wattage of your transformers!
No more chaining and mixing of transformers to get the wattage you need.

This mod makes a few changes:
  • The Power Transfomer and Large Power Transformer can now have their outputs adjusted up to their maximum value instead of being fixed
  • The Large Power Transformer has had its maximum raised from 4kW to 20kW.

...and that's it. It's a simple one. No dependencies or order requirements.
This mod should be safe to add to an existing save. Removing this mod will reset transformers to their default value.

Note that adjusting a transformer to a larger value will breifly draw more energy to "charge" the transformer; this is intended behavior and can be viewed with the power overlay enabled. This also confuses the UI a bit when lowering a transformer's limit, but the effect is purely visual and will fix itself.

Doesn't work, setting the transformer to 2000 still causes overloads. It looks like the 2000 limit stops the input and transformer storage from going over 2000 but the transformer seems to have no problem dumping whatever it has stored into the output, overloading the wire.

Having the same issue as Greggho. Any Ideas?

Anyone have an idea why large transformers set to 2kW still overload its output conductive wire?
Absolutely no batteries on the output side... no mismatch wires either (damage hit the first wire bridge, "circuit breaker" style)... transformer shows 2kJ charge as intended, but it's still outputting more than 2kW

(I may be dumb, but also, please ignore the 9kW shenanigan potential consumers, I rewired/merged another circuit here just for the screengrab, and I'm upgrading other circuits to conductive, hence temporary bridges still have 1kW, those are on 1kW transformers as you can see)

Works fine.

Not working. Maxed to 2KW. I've tried the customization settings mod and it doesn't update the transformer either.

Its tecnhically working, BUT. For some reason, if you try to use it on big network of power where is a lot of things, it wont work and your wires will be burned (It will take a lot of time to gets burned fully, but it will.)

Big fan of what this mod does, would it be possible to make it so the heat generation scales with the power setting of the transformer?

When I get overcurrent it's on the supply side of a modified transformer, like it's still a 2k or 1k draw on the supply circuit no matter the setting. I used to use this mod to make trickle chargers for large infrequently used machines which would otherwise be inconvenient to supply power to, but lately the mod doesn't seem to be working that way for me, charging batteries at max rate and drawing all that power from the main circuit. Big transformers still hold 20kJ as well. I really miss the functionality, to send something like the small amount of excess power from a SPOM into the main grid instead of needing to isolate another circuit for it.

I took a look and cannot replicate any behavior with over-current.

If all is working as expected, the transformer should appear to be charged with 2kJ (viewed from the power overlay) as opposed to its vanilla 4kJ when set to 2kW. If that checks out, make sure there are no batteries connected to the output side of the transformer, as even in vanilla this can cause overloads.
